The dipole is easier to feed (more reasonable impedances at all
frequencies) with the open wire line and a classic tuner. Many
modern tuners have greater capability at low impedances and that
allow tuning with a coax feed. The worst case with coax is when
the antenna is full wave resonant and the coax is an odd multiple
of 3/4 wave long. Then the impedance seen at the tuner is a few
ohms. But automatic tuners that will feed a short whip will often
do the match just fine. I have one up for 80 that I've tuned for
80 through 10 successfully with a T type tuner. I don't have
enough coil to get to 160, but I've made a contact on 160 too. I
thought it tuned on 6, but I didn't hear or work any signals.
