GB0RAF RAF COLTISHALL CLOSING DOWN. EGYC SILENT KEY.
On Sat/Sun 16/17 September 2006 a SES GB0RAF RAFARS 9001 will be operating
from RAF Coltishall from 1000-2100hrs local time on 3.710 primary or from
time to time on 3.055 CW 14.290 SSB all plus/minus. If 80m is down we hope
to be on 7.045 SSB. All RAFARS Members are welcome to attend name and car
registration (at least a week before) to Terry G4PSH see RAFARS News Desk
below.
ZC4RAF/ZC4ATC/ZC4OS.
Ian has informed News Desk that he has been off the air for a number of
months due to his bereavement and health problems, but will be back on
the air again on the RAFARS and the ATC Nets from Cyprus.
Sorry about all your sad news Ian, but good to have you back again.
RAFARS ANNUAL DINNER AND AGM.
The Annual Dinner will take place on Friday 13th October 2006 at the Danum
Hotel in Doncaster. The AGM on Saturday 14th October is at the
South Yorkshire Aircraft Museum about 3 miles from hotel.
NOTE WELL - The relevant post codes are incorrect for Sat-Nav users.
Full details will be in the Summer QRV at the end of July or early August.
DATES OF 2006 RAFARS COUNCIL MEETING AT DCAE COSFORD.
19th Sep 14th Nov. An invitation to an Area Rep to attend each meeting
will continue. Any member may ask to attend but expenses are not paid.
QAP G8FC ON THE AIR FIRST MONDAY OF THE MONTH.
Stan G0BYA and Don M0FHM will be QRV with G8FC at HQRAFARS every first
Monday of the month using CW on the hour and SSB on the half hour. QAP
around the RAFARS frequencies between 1000-1200 and also from 1330-1500hrs
QRV JOURNEL AND QRV FORTHCOMING ATTRACTIONS.
Autumn QRV will hit the streets very shortly, you cannot afford to miss
it.
QRV this time will have an exciting front cover (who said "for a change?")
and will include articles on RAFs Coltishall and Tangmere, a National
Broadcasting station, Propagation, new equipment review, details of
interesting web sites and technologies and a keynote letter from a major
player in the world of Amateur Radio. Just in case no one wants to take
over the job at the AGM, I am already waiting for YOUR articles for the

It has now been confirmed by MOD, that the Air Defence Radar Museum
at RAF Neatishead will NOT be closing down.
17 June Report. Only 21 stations worked, conditions fair, worked only
3 RAFARS G2DYM G4PFR W1BFA and Elvaston Castle Rally GB2ECR.
Museums on the Air - we managed to work 19 Museums on 80m including GX8RAF
Cosford with Mike G3JXK on the mic. Thanks to Keith M0DZB, RAFARS Council
Member, for attending and helping out in operating.
The Station will be active for Friends of the Museum AGM on Sat 15 July
but not on the 8 July. Back to second Sat of the Month in Aug.
GB2RAF should be QRV every 2nd Saturday of the Month 1000-1500 hrs local
on SSB or CW on 80m or 40m if conditions are poor. For full information

1 Jul STS121 Shuttle Discovery. 32nd Mission to the ISS.
28 Aug STS115 Shuttle Atlantis 19 mission to the ISS
(All lift off’s are subject to delays and even cancellations).
114 Space Shuttles have visited the ISS so far and the ISS Project
is due to end in the year 2010.
