PRIORITY, OLDHAM RADIO RALLY SUNDAY 22 JAN 2006.
Roy G0TAK has been asked to run a RAFARS Stand at the Oldham ARC Rally
at the Sports Centre, Lord St, Oldham on Sunday 22 Jan 06. Roy is quite
willing to run the stand but he must have assistance from RAFARS
Members in the Oldham area. So that RAFARS can fly the flag please contact
Roy today our QRV Editor QTHr or email him 2e1raf@thersgb.net.
VP8RAF (FALKLANDS) 10 HOUR SPECIAL EVENT ABOUT 17 JANUARY 2006.
Mike GØNRK RAFARS 2450, Durham Dep AR, is taking a trip from Buenos Aires
to the Antarctic on the MV Discovery. A visit to Port Stanley is planned
for 17 January 2006 from 0700 to 1700 hours Falklands time.
The RAFARS 'owned' VP8RAF has been allocated to Mike as a Special Event
callsign for the period he is ashore. In addition to being the first SE
issue of the callsign, this is the first time it has been allocated to a
non serving member. Mike is a retired 1950s vintage airman. He plans to
transmit on HF near RAFARS SSB and CW frequencies plus some 2 Mtr work.
Several Stanley Amateurs have offered him help with equipment and Shacks
so his precise location will not be decided until the day.
This is a once off event so lets go for it. As a ship is involved, the
actual arrival date may vary so we suggest a listening watch be mounted
from the 15th until Mike has been heard.
RAFARS Packet News Flash 91A also refers.
RAFARS TYNE AND WEAR SUNDAY VHF NET.
Lisa M0BQD has taken over the Tyne and Wear Sunday Net on 145.350. She has
changed the time to 1000UKL. Lisa would appreciate your support.
RAFARS NATIONAL FIELD DAYS.
Roger G3ZDW our Contest Manager is desperate in deciding whether to
hold our NFDs owing to equipment and members support.
Roger requires 2 tents, tables, equpment and above all backing from RAFARS
Members. He can not do it on his own and he is unable to borrow equipment
like he used to before he retired. On top of that, his right hand serving
member for NFD - Duncan G0NWY - has been posted to Scotland.
So please, please support Roger. It seems that everyone is leaving it to
the others, but now we no longer have any others, so please support Roger.
