Audio News For Your Repeater!

Need an audio news bulletin service for your repeater? One that features
late-breaking ham news, is reliable and easy to access?

You need THIS WEEK IN AMATEUR RADIO (TWIAR for short)

TWIAR is has been serving the amateur radio community for the past six
years in the United States and Canada. Produced and distributed from
Albany, New York, TWIAR not only features all the latest "ham news"
but, we're the only full-service newscast that you can legally run
on your repeater, net, or simplex frequency, that has a magazine format.

We give you the news and more! Such as "The Ancient Amateur Archives"
which looks back at how the amateur radio service got to be where we are
today. "Packets Best Kept Secrets", how does the internet and your packet
TNC interact? Interested in getting e-mail on packet? "The Bent Element"
is our own editorial comments from Popular Communications own Jock Elliot,
and a monthy installment on "Antenna Installation and Tower Safety."

TWIAR runs 30 minutes each week, with ID Breaks every 10 minutes for local
ID. Want to sample us? Here's how:

"This Week in Amateur Radio" is a weekly amateur voice bulletin
service, produced by Community Video Associates, Inc., a New York
State not-for-profit corporation. The program is heard on the C-Band
"W0KIE Satellite Network" each Saturday at 9:00 PM (EDT) on the
GE-1 communications satellite, transponder 12 (V), 5.7 MHz
narrowband analog audio subcarrier (3.940 GHz), located at 103
degrees west longitude in equatorial geosynchronous orbit. On
4DTV, select satellite W1, channel 951.

On the World Wide Web, program audio can now be found in several
formats (including streaming audio) at http://www.twiar.org
through the courtesy of the John Campbell, KC4LWI, and at
http://www.qsl.net/twiar with thanks to Greg Williams, KE4HSM,
and Al Waller, K3TKJ. The service also is carried on repeaters
throughout North America and by WA0RCR on 160 meters at 1860 kHz.

This Week in Amateur Radio is also now offering a "condensed" version
of the program containing just the headline news each week. This
version runs for approximately 10 minutes.

If you decide to carry TWIAR in your area, PLEASE LET US KNOW.
We need to know who you are, area served, repeater call and frequency,
(or simplex info), your e-mail address.

We will add you to our database for carriage license, (which is free
of course) and will announce your carriage of TWIAR on the air during
the full version of the service.

Production and transmission expenses are underwritten by
donations from repeater operators, amateur radio clubs, and
individuals. Further information is available from George Bowen,
