On 28/11.1943 the Southampton or Town class light Cruiser
HMS Birmingham was torpedoed by U-407 in the Med,
She was badly damaged but there was little loss of
life, 3 I think died one of these Frank Hoptroff
Telephonist, was a relative of my wife, I was wondering
if any one on Packet as any info on this incident, I
have been searching the net but little info on it seems
to exist.

Birmingham was sent to the USA for repair and went on
to be involved in the Bismarck affair survived the war,
being decommissioned on 3/12/1959.

Who would ride a vehicle that falls over when you stop? :-)
