My song Meow Meow Meow, a creation from nearly 2 decades ago, has begun
to go viral for the last couple of years and as such has just sprinted
past the 2 million plays, not on youtube but actual music services.

You might think 'who cares' but if you have young children in your family
that play Roblox video game, they may be requesting it at kareoke parties
and at least now, you'll know who made it!

The original was composed on a commodore Amiga in the AHX chiptune
tracker program, with vocals added- all sung by myself in a natural
voice that is peculiar because it sounds like its on helium, but it
ain't. I can do this voice on demand, but I wouldn't be doing that
in public any time soon, but after layering about 30 or so tracks
of vocals, and releasing a couple of different versions, it never
actually got published until 2018- and I'm glad I did because
after blowing up my Xiegu G90 accidentally a few months ago, the
income has afforded me the replacement, its not much- but its
honest work!

The original AHX file is on the Modarchive.org website under the
artist 'm0d', which is one of my former handles. I also created
the website used by thousands of budding new musicians who have
since gone on to make themselves careers in audio engineering
because working with the tracker system is essentially working
directly with the nuts and bolts of sample music production on
an extremely barebones and low level, producing files that some
of us in the past may have even downloaded from BBSs because of
their small filesize to music length ratio.

The tracking scene is still alive and loved by many, the software
is opensource and free to use (openmpt and milkytracker for example)

If you have the itch to try out playing with trackers, its a good
place to start. On the other hand, if you have a family member
who has shown an eye for technical prowess and an ear for music,
this might be an excellent opportunity to introduce them to the
'ham' side of digital music.

It is perhaps ironic that my 'worst' piece personally (to be honest
it was quite silly making it) has become the best one in my repetoire,
while at the same time I aspired to walk in the footsteps of legendary
composer and innovator of his time- Mike Oldfield.

I guess the demographics don't lie. Most of my listeners are 10 years
my senior for that stuff, and thats something I love because generation
gaps suck.

Thankd for reading, if you want to check out the tardiness of my stuff
it is on my website along with the ham radio tutorials. I have always
hoped for a bit of cross-pollination between the technical side of audio
and radio.

All the best,
PE1RRR / red / .-. .-. .-.
