If you're going to talk about transfer rates, etc. please use a
consistent set of units. I personally don't care for "WPM" or anything
to do with words because it doesn't have any real meaning to computers
or whatnot.

Characters per second is good. Characters per minute is sort of
acceptable, but traditional networking guys don't think so much in
minutes as seconds. If we refer to every transfer rate as something in
seconds, then we can make valid comparisons much better.

It's also good to differentiate between characters, bytes, and bits.
Though, for all practical purposes here, (1 character)=(1 byte) and 1
byte can vary between 7 and 10 or so bits depending on the transfer
protocol. I believe, however, that the "raw throughput" in bits/sec
(bps) takes into account any overhead. Stop bits and parity bits are
not actual data, so they lower the raw throughput, but if we're simply
given raw throughput numbers, we can not have to think about the
overhead.

Acronyms:
 - Capitalization matters
BPS or Bps = Bytes per second
bps = Bits per second

Let's make it easy and just work in either Bits/sec or Bytes/sec and
forget about words or anything given in minutes. I think it's just too
confusing since some people appear to compare only the numbers and
ignore the units...
