I was not able to measure the MT63crest factor with my spectrum
analyzer. The problem was getting it to show peak power. It measures
average power just fine. My setup was an ICOM IC-746 pro feeding a Bird
4431 (model 43 with a sampling port). The attenuation from the sampling
port to the spec an was 72 dB. My transmitter was set up to provide 40
watts with a single tone input. The Bird showed 8 watts average when
transmitting MT63 sending a file of text. Using the method I described in
earlier posts, my PEP was 40W. My peak to average ratio or envelope crest
factor was 5 (7 dB).
I have the spec an screen capture at
http://home.comcast.net/~mdmiller7/crest_factor/MT63.gif which shows the
basic spec an setup. This is not the setup for channel power.
