Much of these threads have got me to thinking...and with appologies to th=

Like it or not, our U.S. government believes that our use of ham bands is=

on what we do with them. Part of that is understood in the number of MOA=

=A797.1 Basis and purpose.
The rules and regulations in this Part are designed to provide an amateur=
radio
service having a fundamental purpose as expressed in the following princi=
ples:=20
(a) Recognition and enhancement of the value of the amateur service to th=
e
public as a voluntary noncommercial communication service, particularly w=
ith
respect to providing emergency communications. (See the URL

(b) Continuation and extension of the amateur's proven ability to contrib=
ute to
the advancement of the radio art. (See the URL

(c) Encouragement and improvement of the amateur service through rules wh=

provide for advancing skills in both the communications and technical pha=
ses of
the art. (Experimentation)
(d) Expansion of the existing reservoir within the amateur radio service =

trained operators, technicians, and electronics experts. (Still valid but=
not
for radio operators but more of an introduction into communications and
electrical engineering and the like.)
(e) Continuation and extension of the amateur's unique ability to enhance
international goodwill. (QSOing on MT63 with folks all over the world.)
