For the first time a government minister anywhere outside of Sweden has
acknowledged publically the looming peak oil threat.

Andrew McNamara the minister for Sustainability in the Queensland Government
has stated that we need to be prepared for the effects of rising oil prices.

see http://www.news.com.au/couriermail/story/0,23739,22419398-3102,00.html

The previous Queensland Premier Beatie has resigned and the first woman
premier of Queensland has appointed Andrew McNamara as Minister for
Sustainability. Queensland government ministries are now studying the
effects of peak oil on their responsibilities.

It is to be hoped that other governments now wake up.
