Hello Car Buffs...etc;
In my last posting, I added a teaser about the "Proge Carburetor'
and well Warren KB2VXA answered the posting, bring up Popular
Mechanics articles, on things like it, etc ...
I did post back, because for the last few days, since Warren's
posting, I have been trying to connect with friends who as witnesses
were over at the home of a gentleman that not only brought it
up, but showed us, palns and the patent and even who bought Mr. Proge
out to silence him, giving him a big pension for life...to do nothing.
My problem is, since the late 1970s, I have not seen these people
and of course I moved from the city, and this gentleman died
after 1980, as the news got to me, sort of late to even go to
funerals,etc.
I am sure we've all had the expereince of an "Elmer" who knows, it seems
all, and who's basement, near the radio room in the basement is "jammed"
with what looks like junk...but it isn't, as in the course of a conversation
to prove a point, he would disappear into the gloom of the basement and
know exactly where in the pile this or that was.
I also knew he had certain patents himself, and what is now just heresay
on my part, is that he did have the plans, the patent paper, and in the
corner a working carburetor, which did work ... he showed us....but now
no longer as a part was needed and he couldn't get a tube for it.
I know my cloest ham neighbour knows him to as a nickname, but I am
not sure if he knew about the carburetor, as I have not asked him.
He only has memorys of other things, but then that was normal, for
everyone got a different interesting side.
So thats it ... he died... and his funeral was attened by Cable giant
owner Mr. Rogers, and so mnay others as Mike and Sandy his neighbour
tells me, or back then.
Until I find these people, to ask them about their thoughts...it is a
hanger... no conclusion...and a teaser.
