I am not surprised that Caltex is having problems with its refineries. In
this place the two Caltex service stations have the highest fuel prices
and are the first to increase the price of fuel. The Caltex price of
autogas here is 104.9 c.p.l. while another station is selling for 99.4.So
people shop around. The closures of course were in NSW and Victoria. The
refinery in this state is BP and it seems to be going well enough, with no
talk of closure. Not sure what there is in South Oz and Q'land.
You have to be careful Pete when you read news such as this when the
action might only take place in one or two states which can be up to
3000-4000 km from here where I live. The circumstances are vastly
different.
Of course big business has a bottom line of CA$H. These are public
companies and the share holders are people like me and you. We have to
make a living after we retire and we do that by buying shares. We ARE the
company. Do you prefer to be in a Communist state? That is the alternative
and doesn't bear thinking about. Even China has millionaires these days.

>Hello all ... and thanks Dave VK2AAB for the two postings on fuel
and that item on the refinery closures. Looks like as we think
here, or maybe I am alone ... that the Big Business opens and
closes businesses with a mind to the bottomline .."CA$H" and no
other agenda. All profit driven and whomever gives them the best
deal and access and no problems.
