Hi all,
Not surprisingly smaller cars are taking the lead in Australia's consumer
market, a few steps behind Aussies still follow America. As resources
dwindle prices go up outpacing wages so we can no longer afFORD (;->)
battleships on wheels. Eh, the USS New Jersey doesn't have any.
I never drove a car with one of those tiny steering wheels so no comment
there, but I've seen people replace standard ones probably thinking it's
cool or something. Then there are those buttons and bows added to the
bells and whistles (Your car doesn't talk at you?) that would confuse the
hell out of me. I'm a turn the key and go guy, not an airline pilot.
ELECTRIC power steering? What happens when it fails as things have a
habit of doing? At least with hydraulic you can wrestle it to the side.
Mag wheels? I haven't seen them since the motorheads of the 60s and 70s
grew up, take a closer look. Dollars to donuts they're fancy chrome
plated steel, real aluminium-magnesium alloy rims were VERY expensive
even at yesterday's prices.
The insurance industry has always placed the under 25 drivers in the high
risk category for obvious reasons and set premiums accordingly. There has
never been question let alone dispute until more or less recently when
the eye was cast on the old and cranky. Here the "Grey Panthers" charged
anyone with a proposal flailing their canes and throwing walkers so no
legislation ever got past proposal. Cowering in fear they gave up leaving
the geezers to sip their Geritol in peace. Some go senile but we all get
stubborn I suppose, frankly I wouldn't mind being retested if I still
drove, a rolling hazzard I don't want to be. My late uncle is a prime
example, blind as a bat he still drove sometimes with ME as his co-pilot,
scared the crap out of me every time.
Giving equal time, Jersey Shore drivers make New Yorkers look like
experts. Seems to me as soon as they get their licenses the book goes out
the window leaving the few with brains taking defensive driving courses.
Cars are bad enough, you haven't seen idiots until you've seen bicyclists
around here. Two wheeled cops take the lead, lead by example that is...
HHHAAALLLPPP!!!
Oh and before I forget, there are many cars of the year, each in its own
category. Like Consumer Reports Magazine it's just advertizing, the usual
BS lies and deception. Then there's Motor Trend, the list goes on and on.
Now where is that nuclear powered robot driven car I've been waiting all
my life for?
