Partly Ian, but his theory was that population growth would outstrip our
ability to feed the population (Malthusian theory). What he overlooked is
that with the growth in population there are more people to produce food
and his theory went bust. It would seem from recent events that in certain
parts of the world what he predicted has happened but that does not alter
the fact that food production can increase as the potential to produce in
many parts of the world has never been achieved so far - Australia for
example. Also much of the problem apart from drought (as in Africa) is due
to gross overpopulation. The cure for that could be education in birth
control in the regions affected.

there,Bob. All I remember Malthus predicting was enormous population
growth whic has proved correct so it can't be that.
