I t5hink it ios a bit risky trying to predict anything when unforseen
changes have a habit of occurring.
Our temps in theis part of England have held at 4 - 6 deg C, normal for
this time of year after being below 0 last year and the year before.
As for the source Bob quotes. Not a man I have heard of but I have read a
lot of Science Fiction over my life and most of their predictions are
often way out.
As for Malthus. I thought you were going to go into genetics for a moment
there,Bob. All I remember Malthus predicting was enormous population
growth
whic has proved correct so it can't be that.
In SF, anyone who has read Aldous Huxley's Brave New World will remember
how the women all wore 'Malthusian Belts' a bit like cartridge belts
containing birth control capsules.
Not bad for 30 years before the pill!
I do feel much as Bob does. Whenever Global Warming does happen, I
probablt won't be here so all I care about is the cost of heating right
now.
On the topic of Peak Oil. I do watch Russia Today which mentions things
not touched on in the western media. One of these is the rush by several
nations to define which bit of the N polar icecap they own.
Why? Because they have discovered that there is oil under that there ice.
How much and for how long, I just don't know.
If you don't get Russia Today in your country. Try RT.com or just browsing
for Russia Today, it is streamed in various languages. It is always useful
to get another side to the news. e.g. I wouldn't have known that the car
firm Volvo is now Russian owned. I would have thought it was still
Swedish.
