Hello Warren...and excuse I am not re-quoting your comment
on <1> the Bus <2> the U-232 Sealth Submarine ...run on
Hydrogen.
I think in your text you wanted something, I can not give
you which is stats, of the number of buses in Sao Paulo
running on Hydrogen fuel... or the other types of fuel
which in some cases is Bio and others.
For reasons that all cities in the world face, and with
transportation of citizens and enviormental issues, they
in Sao Paulo have choosen many ways to explore to fuel the
very large fleet they employ daily.
I can not but admire, that on any given day in Sao Paulo or
the burbs that form a part of the Sao Paulo area, and where
I say is Osasco ...I have never ever waited more then 5 minutes
for the right bus to come along on it's route.
Once on the bus, then too is the traffic chaos of others
in private and commerical vehicles going here or there.
The also have an option of fuel. Bio or Alco, and
again the search is on, for clean, replaceable fuels
whatever...and inclucing hybrid-electric gas whatever.
Bob VK6BE mentions Liquid gas, Propane whatever, and I am
sure that during the war years, if he remembers England
many cars had the fuel bags < cells> ontop of the car.
I remember when they had the vehicles here on LP, with
the tanks in the trunk or the car...a special hookup
at the rear ... then they placed them outtside and at the
rear of the cars with the fill in a hard to get at place
which resulted in...well they are less and less and now
most stations just keep the LP for the BBQs.
Mnay things have been tried...impratical then...but then
with technology advancements the do get pulled out and looked
at again with the new advancements used...such as the
electric car...as some here have been on our roads in test
mode for a few years. People testing them are happy
and even a used one was sold to another family member
and they would rade for a new one if they could.
SO...if Hydrogen is the way to go, and tests are going on
then we should wait and see the results.
As I mentioned ....this item about the buses is not new.
It was mentioned the las time ...last year when Packet
readers read all about this...and the same pros and cons
then are mentioned again as this topic slides again into
bricks and ...well I prefer to wait and see the outcome.
I am happy to report that the wind Turbines here in SW Ontario
are working well and a benefit, as will be the ones on the
Isalnd closeby. Eyesore...perhaps...but the greed of energy
forces this.
Thank you Bob VK6BE, Ian G0TEZ and you and others for their
observations in their areas...and like in this topic last
year...I guess I will join the masses and wait and see.
