Hi Ian and all,
About the only sci-fi futurist prediction that came true to a T was the
one about robotic automation. It was said that robots performing every
day menial tasks would free humans to persue cerebral endevors and have
more free time for relaxation and enjoyment. Since robots took over a
major portion of industry that hasn't moved offshore looking for cheaper
than robotic labor American workers have all the time in the world to
think about tough times and relax to unemployment, all without pay mind
you. About now all those I Robot characters are laughing their nuts and
bolts off.
Along comes Batman's nemisis The Joker and HIS sci-fi comedy promising
his pie in the sky schemes, Obomber (as the Aussies pronounce it) drops
another one. Like Satan he knows his time is short so he's trying awfully
hard to go out on a wave of laughter, I too would be laughing if he
weren't such a pathetic liar who wouldn't recognize truth if it fell out
of the sky and hit him on the head!
Thanks for the opportunity to vent some steam before the boiler explodes.
I don't know what to say about the other pathetic aspects of this
discussion so I'll play it by ear (and frog). About the only part that
makes any sense is the fuel/population ratio and the numbers about to go
into sharp decline. Nature can only support up to a certain number of
individuals according to the available food supply and when the
overabundant supply is gone back to what nature itself supplies the
population first resorts to canibalism and quickly starves returning the
numbers to what nature intended in the first place.
Bottom line:
When fuel supplies are exhausted and humans must rely on "renewable
energy" our horribly overpopulated planet WILL return to a normal,
sustainable, albiet small population.
"OMG, we're all gonna die!"
Uh uh, that which does not kill me makes me strong so those who survive
will be much better off without the weak and brainless who got us into
this mess in the first place.
The grumpy old bastid from New Jersey has spoken! (;->)
