Hello Bob,
I will read that reference tomorrow, not tonight.
You say the busses are conventional diesal busses converted.
Are they propelled by electric motors or by the diesal engine ?
When you are near them can you hear the engine ?
If so that means they are burning the hydrogen in an internal combustion engine. Then if so, why do they have a fuel cell ?

You say the hydrogen is generated in the fuel cell. I have not heard of that
being possible. Anyway if so what is the feed stock ? Oil or CNG ?
If so it would be more efficient to burn it in the engine directly !

The really big problem with hydrogen vehicles, is the number of energy
conversions between the mine or well and the wheels.
From you teaching days you will remember that each time energy is changed from
one form to another some energy is lost.

Examine this; oil is pumpted out, conveyed to a refinery. Produces a feedstock.
Thats one conversion.
The feedstock is processed to produce hydrogen and other chemicals, no 2.
No 3 the hydrogen is compressed, another energy loss.
No 4 it is transported.
No 5 it is fed into the fuel cell and converted to electricity.
No 6 the electricity is fed into a motor to produce torque the last loss.

Six steps of loss, 50% of 60 % of 75% of --------- and so on.

This why hydrogen cars have been abandoned.

There are other ptoblems.
Approx five times the number of tankers would be needed to supply service
stations than are used for petrol.
You cannot use underground car parks. They leak hydrogen through tank walls and
through pipe fittings.
Special adapted roofs have to used in garages.

Anyway Bob, please clarify what you meant by the hydrogen being produced in the
fuel cell.
I read that link and write again.
