Hi Bob and and all,
As the topic wanders we're talking profits here, not reserves. Speaking
about existance, the oil companies here have more than oil in reserve,
years ago they went on a coal buying spree and closed many of the mines,
particularly in Pennsylvania where the highest quality antracite and
largest coal seams in the world are found. At the time they called it a
"future resource" and the future is now, for power generation in
particular the move is to "clean coal". Anthracite being nearly pure
carbon burns hot and clean to begin with and with stack scrubbers and
electrostatic precipitators almost all the fly ash and acidic gasses are
removed leaving mostly CO2 and water vapor. Screw the greenies, feed it
to the plants, they love it and they're GREEN.
Now if virtually all petrol is moved by tankers you need to build
pipelines. Why burn fuel to transport fuel??? Same here with rails, very
little goes that way since pipelines carry the load and trucks are mostly
for transporting products from the pipeline depot to regional
distribution depots and finally for delivery. Gas on the other hand goes
entirely by pipe from well to stove with the exception of rural areas
where liquified propane is used, that goes by truck.
Eh, I pay no attention to the "motion lotion" prices, haven't used the
stuff in years. I never heard of Malthus, I don't pay attention to
"economists" either because like any so called science no two will ever
agree on anything. If you think you're confused ya ain't seen nuttin yet
and like them you'll continue to deny it, I don't listen to you either.
(;->)
The tortoise and hare escape you? I can understand the hare but the
tortoise should be easy! Oh well, confused again, ribbit, rabbit, bork.
