Now how the heck can you or I give an answer to that Warren? I quoted two
reports. One might have been from a slightly green faction (the one from
the UK, slightly green let us say) However the other was from the WA
Government authority and not from the green groups at all (Department of
Transport - Government of Western Australia report). How do they obtain
the hydrogen? There is more than one way but I am not a chemist and
neither are you and I am not gonna attempt to answer that. However some of
us seem to be seeing a green under every bed!!
One report gives some details of the engine being used
QUOTE:( PERTH, Western Australia -- Ballard Power Systems' (NASDAQ:BLDP)
(TSX:BLD) President and Chief Executive Officer, Dennis Campbell, was
present with various industry and government officials for the inaugural
launch of three Mercedes-Benz Citaro buses, powered with Ballard(R)
heavy-duty fuel cell engines, in Perth, Western Australia.)
Further: "The commissioning of these three buses powered with Ballard(R)
fuel cells puts Western Australia at the forefront of the most dramatic
and sweeping transformation in the history of motor transport," said
Dennis Campbell."
Maybe Perth Western Australia is doing something right? Who is going to
say they are not? You and I can't; we have not the expertise.
All we can do is await the results of the tests and if the experiment is
successful we will see hydrogen driven buses on our roads. If it is not
the project will be dropped. HOWEVER --- where are the negative reports? I
have not seen any so far.The criticisms I have seen have been from amateur
radio operators. What special qualifications have we got? None. Google
brings up other reports too from other sources all giving much the same
picture. These are all suspect? Not very likely.
Cheers,
Bob VK6BE.
>All well and good and quite expected BUT what about the other half of the
>story conveniently ignored. That is what about the hydrocarbon cracking
process to obtain the hydrogen? Simple chemestry will reveal the
comosition of a hydrocarbon molecule so what about the oxygen and in
particular the carbon? OK, the report was on the busses which is all well
and good but like the common expression goes, I'm waiting for the other
shoe to drop.
>BTW, it won't drop from a greenie. Another common expression is they
>don't have a geg to stand on but again that's only half the story since
they do have a leg to stand on, but the other is missing. No wonder they
wander in circles......
