I was going to make the same point, but Andy beat me to it. The internal
workings of that gearbox  were quite similar to the later development by
Borg Warner and the BW 35 auto gearbox can still be found working on quite
a lot of vehicles.

Don't let auto transmition repair dealers fool you into believing that you
need thousands of pounds worth of special equipment to repair them. As a
motor mechanic I have repaired automatic transmitions with very few extra
tools than I would use normaly ( and they all worked afterwards )
including a second hand auto box taken from an old ford and fitted onto an
equally old Hillman Avenger.
