Hi Jerry and all,

I've known for years that methanol is racing fuel but my knowledge
outside the "funny car" circuit is limited so I waited for an answer. Now
it comes, you said this year the Indy was run on ethanol, not much
difference I suppose between grain alcohol and wood alcohol except for
the former being "sippin' spirits" AKA White Lightning, etc. Hey, that's
a good name for a race car but would it be racist? (;->)

The key words here are "high compression engine" and you won't find one
in a US production car, pollution and a rather long story about flame
temperature and nitrous products. Now I'm beginning to wonder what
burning alcohol in one produces, maybe high milage and high performance
will be hand in hand again... who knows?

What I'd like to see is a car running on moonshine with a tube running
from the tank to a bar in the back seat. Robert Mitchum would smile, it's
Thunder Road all over again! Heh, that'll give the NASCAR buffs a history
lesson too, hmmm. <bork> er <hic>... aaaahhhhhhh.

Oh heck, now I realized the pun... a racist race car??? <groan>
