Actually I think it was 85 kHz. The selectivity could be varied by pushing
a little "stick" up and down. There must have been a core at the end of
the "stick". That was the one I was talking about that got into my
father's news service. Lesson One: Use coax for the lead to the Command
Rx.
There was another British disposals receiver which had a lkow frequency
for its IF which was used as a Q5er but I can't remember the name. It was
not as common as the Command. My HF transmitter at one time was a Bendix
TA12, a beautifully built piece of gear which could be converted to most
of the ham bands.
There used to be quite a lot of Teac gear here. I never heard of any
problems with it before. Most of the problem was the situation of the FM
tx's mast overlooking the town. I guess a tuned circuit in series with the
antenna of 100.9 megs could fix the problem as long as I didn't want to
listen to the offending station. I have a clock radio by my bed which has
much the same problem. To take it back to the dealer would mean trying to
talk sense into someone in Sydney. That's too far away and I just can't be
bothered. I got the thing in order to transfer my LPs to CDs and it seems
to work OK for that. I have other radios here which I use for listening to
FM anyway.
Cheers,
