To somebody using MFJ 1272B MIC/TNC switch with MFJ TNC 2 and ICOM 28H
transceiver:
 
Trying to install Model MFJ 1272B MIC/TNC. Switch works ok with transceiver
(red button in), does not function with TNC (red button out). Read manual and
placed the jumps for ICOM 8 PIN MIC as shown on P.4 and made the cable
connections as instructed on P.6 of instruction manual. I noted a jump at HD3
with the unit but not shown in illustration.

MFJ 1272B MIC/TNC switch connected between radio and TNC. TNC connected to
computer. Computer using TCP/IP protocols TNC in KISS mode:
 
With switch button in TNC position DCD light does not come on when volume
increased on radio (with straight cable connection, I turn volume up until DCD
light on TNC is glowing steadily, then adjust the squelch on radio until DCD
light goes out). When I send out ping response nothing echoed back to station.
When I do an IP Heard or ARP no response. Green PTT diode lights up but needle
does not budge on SWR bridge Appears if computer is controlling
the TNC ok they are talking to each other but nothing being transmitted to or
from the radio through the switch. . .
 
Is there something peculiar about using the 1272B switch with the MFJ 1270B and
the ICOM IC-28H ? Node worked and continues to work perfectly with the straight
TNC to MIC cable included with the 1270B I purchased new a few years back.
 
Any fixes or suggestions?
