Onderwerp : TF27_MFJ.DOC TF27B firmware FOR MFJ 1278
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
TF27_MFJ is the code of TF27B firmware modified in order to work with
the MFJ1278 TNC.
The TF27B FIRMWARE is an HOST MODE TNC2 program that include KISS
& DAMA protocol and more.
The code has ben patched to work on the MFJ1278 but using it you
will lose the ALL MODE features of your tnc, the right choice is
to use this eprom and the original one mounted on an atttachment
board end externally swtichable but you have to do the hardware !!!
You can program this code on a 27C256 EPROM but in such case you must
left PIN 1 of the ic OUT OF THE SOCKET and wire it to +5 Volts
(PIN 28 of the EPROM).
If You use a 27C512 program the code IN THE SECOND HALF OF THE EPROM
(starting from address 8000H).
Remove the original EPROM at position U23 and install the TF27B
patched one, the MFJ 1278 will respond you as a TNC2 at 9600 BAUD.
To work at 4800 BAUD Patch 7E3F:48 (HEX)

Onderwerp : MFJ1278B KISS resets SOLVED!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hello!
3 weeks ago I sent out a message asking for help with my MFJ-1278B TNC which
resets it self to factory default parameters in KISS-mode after some time
without activity on the channel.
I got an answer from VK3BLW which solved the problem!
I understand that others are having the same problems, so I send this
bulletin @WW.
There is a secret KISS command 0xFD which turns off the "reset-to-default
-parameters-when-nothing-heard-for-a-while"-function !!
If you send the ASCII-characters C0 FD C0 (192 253 192) to the TNC
in KISSmode, it will not reset itself again!
You will have to resend the characters after a power failure, because the
TNC will then be reset.
I have made a small program that sends the magic characters to the TNC
(and also my favorite parameter settings) before I load BPQ. This works
excellent !
Hope that you find this information useful - it is not mentioned in the
manual.
