Hi Peter and all,
Totally off topic but what the L? Admiral Warren USN and the flagship USS
New Jersey are retired, the battleship is moored at Camden NJ and is a
museum with a well equipped Amateur Radio station (including packet, hi)
and here I sit all comfy and cozy enjoying my pension. The war is over
for me except firing the occasional flare in the general direction of
West Australia just to keep Bob VK6BE on his toes. Great sort he is but
sometimes he forgets the date and time difference, his tend to wake me up
in the middle of the night and the dog goes nuts thinking it's going to
be abducted by a UFO again. Poor fellow, last time he came home with an
antenna where his tail used to be but I think he'll be OK with the tin
foil hat I put on him.
It must be pretty darn cold if it's "bleedin' cold", must be the Canadian
equivelent of losing a certain body part in American parlance. I guess
Santa didn't bring you any coal or maybe Anti Claus stole it and gave it
to the Nazis at the South Pole, so maybe I'll hear from you in the Spring
when signals can cross the now ice jammed St. Lawrence. Meanwhile at
least you have Maria, the Brazilian Fireball to keep another room warm
and I understand if radios are forbidden there, I wouldn't want that QRM
either.
Come summer may wind be in your sails and the pirates keep off your
backstay, set a course for that third star on the left and straight on to
daylight.
