Hi Andrew and readers,

I put "whips" in quotes because only the VHF antennas may be described as 
whips, the HF ones are anything but. In any case, just like Amateur 
multi-band verticals (which these marine antennas are) they DO contain 
coils. That's what makes them entirely non-resonant and useless on 
Amateur bands.

Doggone it boy, LISTEN to me! If you want a good vertical get off this 
marine kick and buy a HAM antenna. That abortion you made is nothing but 
a short random wire antenna!

BTW, in the US at least "Moonraker" is the trademark name of a CB cubical 
quad antenna, not it's manufacturer. Being a registered trademark I have 
my doubts that another company can use it as thiers or the name of the 
company.
