Yep,  I do that..."EXTRAVERSION = -ax25"

I do this manually,  "cp arch/i386/boot/bzImage /boot"
                     "cp system-<version>.map /boot"
                     
Edit the symbolic link to point to /boot/system.map from my new
system-<version>.map.

The problem is that the /lib/modules/kernelversion/pcmcia directory does
not even exist even after doing all that you and I have spoke about.
