Hi , I don't know how common it is to make topband contacts between England
and Austalia but it may be of interest to some on here.
Ken G3OCA ( who I've been on many UK island Dxpeditions with ). made
contact with Mike VK6HD who is located in or around the town of Albany
in Australia on topband (CW) on 5th December.
Remember me saying that Ken and I had put up a topband dipole at the local
radio club, a number of weeks ago. Well the eforts in doing such have
paid off.
We hear a lot about Albany on here , be it windfarms where the wind is
always blowing, or vhf record setters, or lack of rf BBS.
Aparently, there is a window for such contacts on topband, but it is
only open for 10 minutes each day around sunrise in Albany.
