For me it's a real kick to know that my IN THE SHACK antenna is working ;-)
I have a loop which I use from 160m - 6m and usually only work with a
maximum of 25 watts and as low as 2 watts. And here I am working stuff and
having a ball.
I stuck to 21Mhz and 28Mhz mostly and I have worked strings of north americans
with my indoor antenna and it's amazing that all the other qso's are in places
that I expect the radiation pattern to be - thus confirming how the antenna
works.

I would'nt even bother. HF is the only way to have fun.
The VHF CB bands are hopeless ;-)

Yes it's amazing where they all come from during the contests.
I listen on the datamodes and enjoy the occasional QSO on psk31 or rtty.

Yep cw used here also. CW still has a kick in its own way.
I'm glad that HF occupancy is increased these days what with the abolition
of CW. I dont think its a bad thing because getting an effective HF station
still requires a lot of knowledge and experience - unlike the plug and
play 144Mhz CB bands. Eventually the chaff will give up ;-)
Right must go - I'm still working stuff in the contest.
Long live contests - whatever they promote (so long as it aint IRLP rubbish).
