Hi Bob and the YAYemmers,

Hey guy, you seem to have at least ONE redeeming quality (;->). you're
ane A EMMER! YEAH! I guess we're going to have to kick some butt and
awaken these appliance operators that Ancient Modulation will stick
around as long as we can hook some mod iron into the circuit! Like, CW,
it ain't goin' nowhere! You'll hear those whistles and squeaks in the AM
slot mistaken for QRM by those slopbucketeers who never even thought of
switching modes. They put down the beepers too (CWoodpeckers) never
realizing that there are things you can do with AM you can't do with any
other mode.

YUP! AM is alive and kicking, I use it on 2M from time to time with a few
locals and hear PLENTY of it on 160, 75. and 40 meters. There are quite a
few who sound like broadcast stations, well, maybe that's because they
use broadcast equipment. (;->) When a broadcaster upgrades the facility a
lot of stuff goes up for sale CHEAP and transmitters are easily diverted
from the scrap heap and all you have to do is remove one from the
transmitter building and haul it away. I have moved two so far and
they're singing merrily away on 160M. Yeah, you don't have to modify ONE
THING, just set up the station, retune the transmitter (they go to 3Mc
without mods) and plug in the crystals for your favorite frequencies. Oh,
didn't you know they come with TWO crystals?

Aaaah, nothing like the sound of a 1./3HP blower cooling a bank of
40400As. Yeah, the transmitter is best kept in the basement. (;->)
