Well does anyone still use AM on any frequency ?
I am curious to know especially if:
1) You use it for local working perhaps with a homebrew QRP rig
2) You have regular usage using a commercial rig.
I was thinking about AM again with reference to another small HF tx
I was designing to be a companion with my Sony SW100 receiver.
Locally there has always been AM nets nearly every day on 160m since
Marconi was a lad.
I have used it on 160m, plus once on 80m to the [I think it was]
Imperial War Museam, the operator giving a demo of old WW2 equipment,
plus quite a few QSO's to South America and North America on 29Mhz
when conditions allow. I have also once used it on 6m plus I've used it
recently on 2m to good effect.
I know AM is hardly a dx mode, but it can still be useful, especially
for local working and QRP transmitters since it gives cheap voice
operation when working the locals.
