Hi Ian and all,
Eh, so what does an athiest know about so many religious prohibitions? I say
many because there are far more than dietary laws so I don't worry about my
ignorance so why should you?
All I know are my dietary laws from my Christian background which BTW is a
topic of debate thanks to a vision described in the New Testament. They are
based on Jewish and Muslim follow being Christianity and the afore mentioned
are the three daughters of the ancient Hebrew mystery religion (unnamed)
before the civil war in which the Judeans (Jews) separated from Israel due to
irreconcilable religious differences.
Essentially animals with cloven hooves are "clean" while certain parts are
not and the only seafood allowed are fish with fins and scales. Oddly a
species of locust is Kosher which provided food for those who spent time in
the desert. Frankly I'm not fond of squid, octopus or shellfish common in
Italian food but that's just my personal taste.
I never had horse meat or buffalo but I like pork, Jews and Muslims don't
know what they're missing. (;->) Never had hahhis either, it's nowhere to be
found in the colonies but I'd like to try it. I'm not fond of tripe or black
pudding (also unavailable) or blutwurst (blood sausage) regardless of the
fact blood is prohibited, just another personal taste. Oh, was Dracula an
atheist? (;->) I suppose you know Vlad wasn't a vampire but his eating habits
sure were disgusting, I loathe the idea of lunching with him in the castle
courtyard surrounded by the dead and dieing up on long pikes.
Too bad M*A*S*H isn't shown in the UK, it sure is funnier than the movie. Two
notable differences, the theme is instrumental since there is no suicide
scene (obvious reasons) and Hawkeye often imitates Groucho Marx. I suppose
you can find it on the internet as with most things, I just never bothered
with Hulu or other TV related sites. That reminds me, you can tap the BBC
streams but I can't due to issues I don't really understand which I find
annoying because of many fine presentations I hear of. Oh well, that's life.
