TS-2000 fault
----------------
Affects: Amtor, Pactor, Rtty, Psk31 etc. with TS-2000

For HF digimodes the connection is made through the
ACC2 connector. This erronously has a fault, as power starts
with abt. 5% output, rising slowly in a few seconds, when
switched to transmit.

The "slow start problem" is then "corrected" by the operator
by increasing the gain, or using the processor, which then
produces a very broad, distorted signal.
Many operators are not aware of this and produce hereby
much QRM on the band.

This fault is known by KENWOOD. They have a field upgrade
to correct this "slow start problem".

Affected are units with a serial number below 309'000.
If your equipment is affected, then contact Kenwood and
request the upgrade (software and hardware).

After performing this upgrade watch your signal on a control
receiver and verify during a RTTY or FEC transmission, that
your signal sounds clear and undistorted.

Distortion may also come through RF coupling into the input
lines. It is recommended to use an adapter box which provides
RF filtering and continuous level adjustment.

More specific details are available on request.
