Kenwood & AvMap Geosat 5 Blu APRS
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
AT first i had my doubts, the expense is over 450quid just for the AvMap
from W&S with all cables, it has a GPS within at the top and it is ready
set to work with D710E. Common sense has to be applied in setting up just
use that and you will find APRS 9600. Go to the D710 and again apply
common sense set 4800 to 9600 set NMEA to KENWOOD.

I use my tools via ISS so you may not see me at all unless im digid by ISS
to INET.

The AvMap is a very expensive tool and new cards are issued from time to
time when updating, it is my understanding that it is working through our
own GEOSAT 5 BLU APRS as it begins to function all the stations on board
will come up on the Map and you may route to the station of your choice It
is 100% better than TOM2 and it also allows talk thru with Bluetooth all
of which have been tested here and on road all over Europe. BUT it only
covers Europe dont try Malta it wont get you there just to Sicily.

Together the equipment is worth 1k quid so obviosly no ham is going to
leave it in sight i found a specially built suitcase made of wood ideal
all made in shack with tools available, however be warned there is so much
cable that you have to make a special compartment to house just that. It
is well filtered. It will direct you away from heavy traffic and may
divert you down b or c roads take them unless you are in an 18 wheeler:)
but you will get to your destination and by advise accordingly.

Best wishes, Rodge (g0cjm/g6xcj at gb7cow.#44.gbr.eu)
