Hello Col,

Is that Collin, Colwyn or Colonel? (;->)

Yes, your Kenwoodie manual is wrong. They are usually translated from the
Japanese rather poorly. I have one which calls the driver board "the
younger unit".

If you want to calibrate an S meter (Why would anyone want to?) it is set
to read S9 with a specified signal level in MICROVOLTS at a specified
frequency measured at the antenna input. Hallicrafters, Collins and a few
others specified 50uV @ 14Mc as an industry standard but it was never
adopted as such. This is why we call them GUESS meters.

Who really cares anyway? The original RST report was based on how well
one COPIED the signal, it had nothing to do with any sort of meter. I for
one couldn't care less what the rig says, I go by what > I < say, in
other words, what I HEAR.

BTW, I copy you 5 by 9, oh, what was the callsign again? Oh bruddah!
Doncha jus' love it? We call them "contest reports". (;->)
