Hello fellow Kam users:
After running my Kam (presently v8.00) since 1988 with various
programs on many modes I noticed several months ago that I was unable
to upload files greater then 2 to 3 kb to my packet BBS. The length
was not consistent and applied to both plain text and 7+ files. After
uploading a portion of the file I would be "rudely" disconnected and
the TNC would be left in the CONVERSE mode. This using Winpack.
"Sending Abort Message" would flash on the screen followed by " A
problem occured with the FBB forward. The error message is "An
unexpected or invalid packet type was received from the sender". A
fellow packteer send me his Kam settings and I compared his setting
with mine. When I got down to the "p's" I saw his PBBS was set at 5,
mine at 100. In other words, he had allocated 5 kb for his mailbox,
mine was set at 100 kb. Whew. I don't know how mine got set so high
but I changed it to 5 - problem resolved!
So, should you have a similar problem, check your PBBS setting.
Now perhaps one of you rocket scientists could tell me why 5 works but
not 100. After all, the TNC and the computer are handing-shaking while
Winpack is sending the bytes to the Kam and it (the Kam) should stop
the pc from sending more data once the ram is full. Yes? No? Maybe?
Cheers!
