Hi,
In New Zealand, we have about 17x70cm repeaters, ranging the full length
of both islands and serving about 70% of the main populated areas and ALL
the main cities, with the exception of Gisborne and the Poverty Bay area on
the Eastern side of the North Island. In the South Island, the West Coast
below Nelson and the central mountains are also not covered.
On JOTA weekend, this system is taken over by the kids for JOTA activities
from 00:01 Saturday till 23:59 Sunday, UTC.. (NZ is 12 hours ahead of UTC).
What we are proposing is linking our systen to other repeaters, which are
already linked to the Internet, around the world. I would suggest, however,
that English speaking countries would be more appropriate as English is our
national language in NZ. Whilst there are a lot of different nationalities
represented within our population, most children are fluent in English.
Those whose famillies are not from other ethnic origins will experience
some difficulty in understanding other children whose native language is
not English. :-(
If you're interested in taking part in this linking up, please send an
e-mail to Dean, ZL1JJ at; deano@ww.co.nz
The idea is his so he's been nominated to co-ordinate it from this end,
we're very democratic in NZ...HI
I'm just the messenger as he doesn,t have packet.. And I dont have an
internet connection, so any replies to me will have to come via this means,
however, if you do reply to me, I'll have to send it on to Dean anyway.
Cheers for now,
