Hi from the Rewa Cub Pack, Northdown Te Rangi Scout Group
Our QTH is Timaru, a city of 25,000 people in the South Island of New Zealand.
Timaru has a port on the centre of the east coast with a back drop of the
Southern Alps mountain chain.
Our Group is 86 years old and we have 2 cub packs, 1 scout troup, 1 venturer
unit and 1 rover crew. We have 11 leaders in the group.
Our Cub Pack has 9 cubs including 2 girls. We have just completed the First
Aid Badge and last week we visited St Johns Ambulance were we were shown
all the equipment carried by an ambulance. Next Tuesday we have our district
cross country run. Last summer we camped at Lake Tekapo where we visited
the Hydro Power Station, Fire Station and the Mt John Observatory which
has a large telescope.
Our leaders all work and we have a computer technican, mechanic, builder,
pharmacist and a student, so we can fix or make almost anything.
We usually meet on Tuesday evenings 6.30 to 8.00, but on Sunday morning we are
going to one of our Leaders (Kaa) place to take part in JOTA. His Name is
Glenn ZL3GL and his XYL Sharron ZL3AE will show us their radios and Bryce
ZL3SMO will operate his packet station.
It is spring here in ZL and with summer approaching we will have our long
summer holidays.
