Hello Dear Friends,
This is to say thanks you to all of you who sent greetings to Ringmer Scout
Group over the JOTA weekend, we have answered most of them but in the general
mayhem of a JOTA weekend please forgive us if we have missed anyone.
We had a successful time with 20 Scouts sleeping over (what sleep one asks!)
these were the ones that were taking there Communications Badge. The bands
were not in that good a condition so we did not make thousands of contacts but
the ones we did were very good. A memorable one was with and Italian group who
gave us a song over the air! For those of you in Europe and listened to
1440Khz Radio Luxembourg when it had English service will remeber how the
music sounded with fading and groundwave skywave distortion so it was quite
and education to the ears! Wonder though and as we said the best contact we
had. 50Mhz brought no contact except one local one we had hoped for the
wonders of nature to perform for us but I'm afraid it did not. 2Mtrs had it
fair share on contacts and also 70cms. This mode (Packet) also had a lot of
use specially the CHAT server, we found out that a lot of the Scouts are a lot
faster on the keyboard than the instructers were!
Let us hope that we are able to contact you next year, so keep us in you book
for a QSO, again our thanks and we hope "you" also had a fun weekend.
73/88 From Ringmer Scout Group.
Ps. Any replies to this bulletin would you be kind enough to address then to
G0JDR @ GB7ZZZ.#38.GBR.EU who is the keeper of the club call. Thanks de Fraser
G0JDR.
