Theory Examination
The next theory examination for the Amateur Station
Licence will be held on Wednesday, 7th July at 2pm in
the ComReg Offices in Dublin and at other centres if
warranted by the numbers.
Information on examination fees and other details
please see 'Theory Examination' in the 'Information'
section of the IRTS website at www.irts.ie
Intending candidates are also referred to 'Studying for
the Amateur Radio Examination' in the 'Downloads'
section of the website.
The latest date for receipt of applications to sit the
examination is Wednesday, 23 June next but it is
important to note that places at the exam are allocated
on a first come first served basis.

Award for Eamon EI9GQ
We were delighted to see that at the recent AGM of the
RSGB Eamon EI9GQ was awarded the Ostermeyer Trophy for
his series of construction articles in RadCom. We are
sure that all who receive RadCom will agree that the
award is well merited for the high quality informative
articles which he writes.
In 2007, the IRTS awarded the Collins Cup to Eamon in
recognition of his work through these articles in
promoting home construction and the self training aspect
of amateur radio.

Pat Conway Cup
There is a nice picture in the June RadCom of IRTS
President Paul EI2CA presenting the Pat Conway Cup to
Herbie Graham GI6JPO at the recent AGM in Dundalk. The
cup was awarded to Herbie in recognition of his work for
amateur radio particularly through his active support of
the Lough Erne Amateur Radio Club. Herbie is a regular
caller to this News bulletin and we always welcome his
reports

CQ CQ calling news items
As is common through the year we have occasional lulls
in news. If your group or club are involved in
anything that you would like to share with our
Listeners or readers please pass on the information to
our editor.

CASHOTA activation in Co Louth.
Dundalk Amateur Radio Society, will be activating St.
Johns Castle, Carlingford, Co Louth. On Sat / Sunday, 29
/ 30th May 2010.
WAI squares, EI Counties, and CASHOTA, conditions will be
available to stations who call in, operation will be on
all HF bands, and on most of the VHF / UHF bands as
well. All QSL routes will be catered for.
Call sign of the station will be EI7DAR/P,
The organizers of the Carlingford Oyster Festival have
invited the Dundalk ARS to demonstrate Amateur Radio to
the public, and there will also be some Tall Ships in
Carlingford Lough over the weekend. A good outdoor
activity is expected for all the family.

Amateur Radio & Hollywood
The sale of KE6PZH's Amateur Radio equipment has been re
listed on eBay after not selling in a recent auction.
Although listed on the FCC Data base as Martin Brandeaux
he would be known more Internationally as Marlon Brando!
Also the holder of Callsign FO?GJ , he was also QRV
occasionally from his from his private French Polynesian
Island.

Extension of amateur radio 40-metre band in Kenya
The Communications Commission of Kenya has just approved
the use by radio amateurs in Kenya of the sub-band 7100
kHz to 7200 kHz.
