THEORY CLASSES IN REGION 4
Plans are being put in place to run radio theory classes
in the Limerick area by IRTS Region 4 representative Ger
McNamara EI4GXB, with the hope that the theory
examination can be held in Limerick which will be
dependant on numbers.
Those interested in attending the theory classes can

Limerick Radio Club wishes to advise new applicants for

The AREN Net on the 21st will be a Digital Mode NET. The
mode in use is PSK31, and will commence at 19:30 local
time.

Dublin Area Repeaters
Dublin, Kippure, repeater EI2KPR on
145.7625 Mhz has been operational since Wednesday 2nd.
Sept Access 88.5Hz CTCSS and 2.5Khz deviation.
3 Rock repeater EI2TRR on 145.600 Mhz. is now on it's new
antenna since Tuesday 8th. Sept.
3 Rock 70Cms repeater EI7DUR on 433.225Mhz This is back
on air also since Tuesday 8th. Sept.

Broadcasters HF Net
KE7GGV has formed the 14.316 Broadcasters HF Net-
Sunday's 2300 UTC.
This net is a gathering place for current and former
Broadcasters/Engineers in (Radio/TV). All Amateurs are
welcome.
This is an open net that welcomes roundtable discussions,
technical tips and ideas, questions and more.

TAPR Digital Communications Conference
Over the weekend of the 25-27 September the annual ARRL
and TAPR DCC is being held in Chicago Illinois.
John Ronan EI7IG will be presenting his joint paper:
Experiments with Delay and Disruption Tolerant
Networking in AX.25 and D-STAR Networks.
John will also be presenting in the Introductory
sessions, an Introduction to APRS.

EI2MOG- How To operate the Internet Gateway
EI2MOG on 145.2125Mhz located on Mount Oriel, Co.Louth
now requires the use of CTCSS tone 88.5Hz, and further

EI2GBW Special event Station - Cork Swansea Ferry
The purchase of MV Julia for the new Cork-Swansea ferry
service has now been completed. Julia left Finland on 16
September bound for Swansea, and is expected there on
Wednesday 23 September for berthing trials before
continuing on to Cork.
You can track her progress on marinetraffic.com under
'Ships Map' on the top left of the home page, and then
finding 'Julia' under the 'Go to vessel' option.
Following her brief visit to Swansea, Julia is expected
in Cork on Thursday 24 September or possibly the next day
or two if her departure from Swansea is delayed.
To celebrate her arrival in Cork, special event station
EI2GBW will be operating from the AREN mobile command
post trailer at Customs House Quay on the day she arrives
in Cork. Check press reports for exact timing of Julia's
arrival in Cork.
EI2GBW will be QRV on 80m and 40m for the day. Planned
frequencies are 3.660 to 3.680 MHz and 7.120 to 7.140
MHz. Operators will be John EI2GN, Tim EI2KA, Conor

MRE AGM
The AGM of the Mayo Radio Experimenters will be held on
Wednesday October 7th at 9.30pm local time in The Welcome
Inn Hotel, Castlebar. All are welcome to attend.

The 4W6AL log has also been updated and is available

Please Note: QSL Manager/Pilot Station Toze, CT1GFK,
reports that some 100 stations worked a PIRATED 4W6AL
station on September 12th! Only four stations worked the
actual 4W6AL station. Check the log before QSLing

Alpha Radio Products forms new Company
Alpha Radio Products. A newly formed company, RF
Concepts, LLC, has acquired all the assets of Alpha Radio
Products.
RF Concepts will manufacture the world-class amplifiers
and other products that, for more than 40 years, our
community has come to appreciate.

Ray Oliver's G3NDS - Sailing
As previously reported Ray Oliver's sail for charity, Ray
is on his final leg of his journey to his homeport after
leaving in April 2008.
Rays journey is available with stories and photos on his
blog, weather permitting if all goes well he should be
home in time for this weekend.

Swaziland DXpedition - QSL status
QSL Manager for the Swaziland DXpedition in August 2009,
David, GI4FUM/3DA0DJ, reports that 5,000 QSL cards have
arrived from the printer (in the Ukraine), on September
11th, so the cards are on their way back to anyone who
QSLed direct.
Cards from the UK and Ireland have been dealt with first.
Unfortunately, the present postal strikes will not help,
but the cards are on their way.
There are two designs, so anyone who worked more than one
member of the team should get cards in both designs.
