Packet/Data News No.136 Compiled By RON GU4XGG/GP4IPA Dated.27/10/1997
***************************************************************************

If there was a not a 135 blame Nigel G0JOH as he says that there was.
During the last two weeks I have upgraded the PC here from a 486 DX4-100
to a P200MMX.And it goes without saying that the lid had to come off and a
few things pulled out and a lot of new things put in.And then a lot of
work with two fingers on the keyboard.
The mechanical side of things went well. But the tape backup of one of the
Hard Drives turned out to be blank when I went to use it.And as I had
reformatted the HD's that was that. But at least I only have one copy of
"Windows" now,97, and one copy of Dos.Before between the two Hard Drives,
I had three copies of "Windows" and two copies of DOS !!!.This semms to
have solved all the previous problems I had with MS Office 97 Pro.
I was late on getting back on "Packet" until I was able to download V6.3
from the Internet.
So all I really need now is "NEWS".

Ron: can't tell if messages are from you or relayed via Nigel - I get
some strange service provider message that the return address for an
immediate reply to you via the incoming message header is wrong ????
Anyway I'm sending you some E-mail addresses again in case you lost them
all - a couple sheets of printouts will go out to you in Monday's mail
post.
Good luck with computer, those Ü%#$@&*:/>?@?&(%#)^@#$</:Üü&öÖ@#%

Hi Ron,
I can not vouch for all of the address's being IPA as I have stolen it
from yours or brians list. I see you got Brians G4FRG message and his
addressI re-transmitted your message and got a message back from a
caroll MASSIE, but not indication they were IPA?
Obviously the only lsit I have here is G members. Note the new one in
there I can vouch for is Colin TUNBRIDGE, my old boss.
Brian is away at the moment, I can not help with the disc as I cant use
that software? But you are welcome to a copy of my G-list, which is in
Excel format.
I have Winpack V5.4 here if required, mscomm.vbx is a bit large to send
over the net. 48k( Thanks downloaded Winpack V6.3 from the Internet XGG)

Hi Ron,
Tnx for the cc, which you have been sending to all IPA types. Yesterday on
21.410khz I talked with a DL station w/57 report. However condx. not good
enough to work the States. I had to QSY down to 14.240khz where we had 25
check-ins for the net. Five of those were European stations. GI4SYM-Bill
was the strongest. We copied him 57 out here on the Coast. However he had
trouble hearing the Stateside stations as he was getting QRM from a French
station.I thought I had heard you calling in a couple of Sundays ago; so I
had Will call for check-ins from Europe, but you didn't respond.Condx
still not > real stable as of yet. We have been checking 15 mtrs first
before going to "KW Alley"(14.240) Hope to hear you guys from across "The
Pond" more often!
We are listening for you all! 73's---Rob W6RF/W7IP

Hi Ron,
Your next packet newsletter will be 136.
As regards the net, lets see what GMT brings, and monitor the new
frequency before we jump. I seem to recall moving away from that frequency
because of the 'bean net'.It will also give us time to publish.
Cheers de Nige (Nigel ALLISON G0JOH)
