G4MNW AWARD.
News from Derek G0RZP. :- On Tuesday 11th.Feb.1997 at the DEWSBURY POLICE
STATION Brian G4MNWs widow will be present when the G4MNW Award is
presented by The Chief Constable of The West Yorkshire Police Force.
It will be held in the conference room at 1900hrs.There should be some
80mtr. activity around that time if conditions allow.
I know not who it will be awarded to, but understand that it is a large
silver cup.And as they do not trust Police Officers;neither do I,the cup
will be retained by The Constabulary !!!

From :AA2WM @AA2WM.#NLI.NY.USA.NOAM
Saw a note from Nige in one of the recent ones about his Internet email
address at Compu$erve and it prompted me to send this info on to the gang.
If you have one of those complicated, hard to remember, non-HAM related
email addresses, AMSAT has a free mail forwarding service available to all
licensed HAMS.
    Just drop a line to:listserv@amsat.org
and tell them that you would like an email address. Tell them your
callsign and they will give you the following email address in return:
yourcall@amsat.org For example, mine is aa2wm@amsat.org
Their server will automatically receive and resend your mail to your home
email address. This is really nice for keeping your HAM radio callsign
separate from other internet activities for security purposes. The turn
around time, from what I am told, is minimal, perhaps several minutes at
most. CUL, 73 de Bob - aa2wm.ampr.org. Ä44.68.48.8Ü

...........................................................................

I have been asked by the sysop of GB7PAB Joe if, when you receive this
that you could send me a return message acknowledging receipt in order to
confirm your route.Failure to do this might mean in future that you will
not receive Packet News. HIS REQUEST NOT MINE.

At the moment the Packet News goes out in two sendings. The First generated
at GB7GSY for local consumption here in The Channel Isles. The Second
generated in Plymouth at GB7PAB for all other stations.
Soon it is hoped that all Non UK Packet News will be sent via. a Server at
GB7GUR for onward transmission by the HF Euro Link.
This will ease the load at PAB and the UK Network and we hope will speed
the transmission.
At the same time a simple Header and Footer will be adopted for the Non UK
Packets as I understand that HF transmissions are queued by size order and
not date order, and the Footer and Header add a lot to the size.
...........................................................................

WE had Four stations up at 1600hrs on 80 mtrs. today.Conditions not bad.We
tried again at 1900hrs but a UK station running a linear came up and
blotted all out.I think we could have worked QRP with a bit of Wet String
but Power they have to use.Sorry about that chaps but I lost you all in
the QRM.
Nothing else for this week.Best wishes once more to you and your families.
