Packet News No.102 Compiled By RON GU4XGG/GP4IPA Dated.28/12/1996
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
It almost seems like last year when I think back to No.101.Not a lot has
happened since then at this QTH but at least the four slices of Turkey
llasted two days. And we must be the only family this side of Mars that has
spent nothing on their credit cards. In fact I have not even been to Town
to see what is in the shops.I suppose I will have to go aand see the lights
before they take them down.
Putting the Fibre Glass up the chimneys worked well, it stopped the draft
but also any presents. But they stopped when I stoopped believing in "Santa"
and that was some time ago.
Mail from GU to UK and beyond by packet should be about normal over the
holidays as it is carried to Plymouth by the Internet. But in the reverse
direction we are using Snail Mail so as they have been on holiday very
little personal mail has been received.
I have finished building my new elevating tower. But is hhas been too cold
to get out in the garden and spend half a day putting the Tribander back
together again and mounting it on the tower. But the 80 and 40mtr. Dipoles
are still in one piece after the gale force winds we are having.
Had problems with dust and fluff in the Tape Streamer in the PC.It chewed
up two tapes at 19 each before I stripped it down andd gave it a good
clean out.At the same time I stripped the PC down and gave all the boards
and drives a thougher cleaning.
I really do not know where the dust and fluff come from as the PC and
radio equipment is housed in a dedicated non smoking room.
My large TV went U/S but under warrenty just before Christmas and that was
due to TAR from the dreaded weed on the switches.AND I DO NOT SMOKE but
her in the house does.No wonder people get lung cancer !!

Hello Ron,
OK for youur last msg.
Yes, I guess you'r right about why you receive few infos from our french
IPARC friends.
I think as in Spain and southeern countries, the language still remain as
a large Wall to communication.
Hey ! By the way ... what is "Ne dessus Ni dessus" suppose to mean ??
I see this regularly in your info.(Neither above or below XGG)
About the DXpedition, I have to add that I am only making a QSP for Wim
and that I am not organising the event.
I know what this represent in organisation and I've had ome passed
experiences from guys who start a lot but when comes the time to move they
are not here anymore.
I just can confirm that I also went to "EA6" long time ago and that Porto
Cristo was a real nice place.
Yes, right .. one can not sta "up to date" for long with PC's.
I myself am using an "old" 386DX40 ..without CDRom driver etc ..and
hesitate wether I will buy a Pentium or not .....
Maybe in a few month 686 will replace 586 models ... hi !
About Xmas, well I expect to do it in Brussells with some relatives and
New Year eve is not prepared yet.
So Ron, that was it for today.
II will QSP your message for sure to ON6TZ Wim.
All my best regards and 73s.
