* SVALBARD NEWS 1999 - JW9PJA NEWS 1999 *

**************************************************
Hello again,
This time I have good news about Svalbard, I will once again be active
from Svalbard and this time will try to do more SSTV qso's.
This operation will acomodate three operators and will cover the following
frequencies and modes diveded per operator as possible.
OPERATION DATES:
****************
25th February abt. 15:00 utc to 28th February 10:00 utc
JW/LC3SAT - Ivar
****************
Ivar holds a classe C license and can operate only from 50mhz above, he
will be in charge of Sat qso's, and i'm sure it will be mostly RS-12/13
he will also be doing some 50 mhz operation, but we sure it's no conds.
JW/LB4OE - Per
**************
Per holds a classe B license and can only do CW with 100w power all freq.
from 160 - 6m and CW/SSB on above ones. He will sure operate on 40 or 80m
while I do SSTV/RTTY on 20m or other freq.
JW9PJA - Carlos
****************
This is me and i will do SSTV / RTTY / CW / SSB on the bands that will
permit us, i will try to do most of my QSO's on SSTV and RTTY however i'd
like to do some operation on 160 m CW, so i hope there's good conditions
at the time of our operation from the island.
SSTV
*****
This mode is possible due to the efforts of ON4VT - Danny (on4vt@ping.be)
and the DX Bulletin.
Danny was kind to provide the SSTV mode in 1998 operation but some went
wrong with my radio FT-900 AT and i did only 5 SSTV qso's.
But this time be using the same FT-900 AT with Ampifier abt. 500w
It will be the same setup for RTTY.
About the pictures i will be send, so i hope you all be kind to understand
the pressure i will be in, i will use a old LapTop 486dx with 4 mb memory
and JVFax V 7.0 it's the only one working with my PC and for reasons of
acommodation on the plane, we not allowed to take to much equipment.
So be kind to wait for your picture and don't send yours while i'm sending
wait for my SSB replay and then i send you a SSTV rply.
160m
*****
This is a band wich i like very much, and have been active on it lately, i
hope conds are good for this band otherwise will be only 80/40/20 and SAT's
10m
****
Yes this can be a suprise freq. i remember my last trip on Setember 1998
while looking aroud 28.495 mhz i heard a Franch Station working the States,
after they were finished i called the french ham, he replayed and very
suprised asked me wich call was it ? I told him i was in Svalbard EU-026
he didn't believ it and i still waiting for his QSL, hi.....
That day i called for abt. 2 hours on ten and i got some europeans on the log.
Ten meters has been good in Norway from around 10 to 16 utc so we hope we will
be able to work this one too this time.
