Hello IOTA hunters,
An amateur radio expedition will activate Huon Island, d'Entrecasteaux Reefs
group, IOTA OC-058, New Caledonia.
Huon Island (18 02'S., 162 57'E.) is 7-meter high and lies on New Caledonia's
northern-most atoll, located approximately 320nm NW of Noumea city.
Validation materials will be provided to the IOTA committee for this rare a
nd remote island group. The reference assigned for the "Islands on the Air"
award programme; OC-058.
Two operators will utilize a single transmitter beginning, not later than,
05 September 2004, expecting to remain on-the-air for 10 days or so.
Listen for FK/KM9D on CW and SSB. The temporary station is expected to be
QRV on all of the amateur bands, 160M - 10M.
Requests for QSL cards should be directed to the QSL manager, OM2SA. QSO
data will also be submitted to the ARRL "Logbook of the World".
Please pass/post this information where interested persons are likely to find
it useful.
