Dear Reader,
It is with much pleasure that I make the second update
announcement of the forthcoming IOTA expedition to the
Isle de Sein EU-068 for the IOTA contest in 2001. This
island is in CQ Zone 14, ITU Zone 27, Lat. 48›02'N, Long.
04›51'W, Locator IN78NA, DIFM AT-007 & DDFM 29.
Two ARLHS Lighthouses will also be activated, these
will be LE GRAND PHARE (FRA-066) & PHARE DE MEN
BRIAL (FRA-067).
This expedition group, known as " The Minkies Boys" will
definitely be under the co-ordination of Wilfried ON4AVA.
The Minkies Boys team will consist of ON9CGB Bill,
ON7PQ Pat, ON6CX Dries, ON5SY Harvey, ON4ON
Danny, ON4ASG Hans, ON4AVA Wilfried, & SWL Ronny
(the cook). Many members of the team were on our
previous expeditions in 1997 to EU-099 The Minkies Reef
(Plateau des Minquiers), 1998 EU-114 Guernsey, in 1999
EU-065 Ouessant and last year to the very same Isle de
Sein.
Every year we gained knowledge skill and experience,
and were placed 7th world-wide of the Island participants
in 1999. We improved our position to 6th in 2000 & we
aim to further improve our achievements this year.
At this stage, we expect to reach the island late on the
25th of July 2001, departing on 30th of July 2001.
We already know from previous years that auto-financing
an expedition is an onerous matter, and in fact is
dependant upon some outside help in the form of
Sponsoring, either financially, or by the loan of specialist
equipment.
We give credit (publicity) to all sponsors by mention of
their name, or inclusion of their Company Logo on our
four-sided full colour QSL card sent for all contacts made.
If you would like to help us, and obtain some publicity
world-wide as well as locally, please get in touch with me.
Please feel free to include information about our plans in
your publications.
I will periodically advise you of further information.
It has now been decided that we will use the callsign
F/G0MEU/p during the contest, and the callsign TM1ON
(for which we have applied) outside the contest.
QSL manager for both calls will be our faithful QSL
Manager Danny Commeyne, ON4ON, via BURO or direct
