Well as I remember seeing and smelling from a distance some years ago.
The Pot in pot noodle comes from the plastic pot that it comes in, some
120mm tall 80mm dia tapering to the base about 50mm dia. There is a pull
off foil top.
The contents are pasta noodles and some sort of freeze dried bits of
vegetable and possible tiny meat particles mechaniclly removed after the
machines had thought they had found everything recoverable.
A spicy dry gravy mix with a copius helping of that poisonous red stuff is
included in the pot with lots of salt and monosdium glutamate and other
chemicals which produce the characteristic disgusting smell.
In use the busy modern working wife comes home and boils a kettle of
water, makes tea with some and pours the rest into the pots, one for each
family member.
After a couple of minutes standing the contents of the pot swell and
absorb water thus producing a slimy glutanous mess. There is no need for
plates or washing up other than the fork needed to poke out pieces of the
goo.
Thus the family can sit on the settee almost without moving for the rest
of the day watching the TV where this rubbish is advertised. Thier bodies
can develop supported in this manner and thus nourished, into the the
blobs of spotty, pale androgenous flesh that is evident on the streets.
