REPLY TO ANDY G0FTD.
A bulletin, as per the following details, was lodged by Andy G0FTD:-
__________
" VK5QX sent:-
"David went on to explain how he was able to obtain information of
interest
to him by being persistent in his cause. "
Perhaps Ian could remind us of the cause ?
(Honest question).
- Andy - "
__________
I suggest to Andy that he look for a bulletin lodged by David G4EBT under
the subject heading, rather than my having to re-transmit the whole of
David's rather lengthy message.
David had covered, in quite some detail, the matter of previous comments
made with regard to the "Freedom of Information Act".
In doing so he referred to efforts that he had made to try to ascertain
the full and true story regarding action taken against him by the (then)
U.K. "RA".
Here are two extracts from David's bulletin;
__________
" I tried to get to the bottom of why they acted the way that they did,
but no - they decided to tough it out, and so did I. After more than six
months not making much headway, in the end I made a formal complaint to
the RA Chief Executive on 6 November 2003, an Independent Review, and a
request for all internal documentation to be released under the Data
Protection Act. "
and,
" My efforts have proved worthwhile. The released documents tell a very
different story from that which the RA had portrayed, but now the game's
up.
I'm pleased too, as it puts the complainant in a much better light.
His complaint wasn't as described by the RA, and that's caused needless
hassles and misunderstandings for him, me, and RA staff too. "
__________
Put simply, David's "cause", as queried by Andy, G0FTD, was to ascertain
the truth in regard to the matter under question, i.e. namely action taken
by the "RA".
It was in connection with this that David G4EBT had made comment regarding
aspects of the Freedom of Information ACT as it presumably will eventually
apply in the U.K.
If Andy wants to see the whole of the bulletin in question he could;
1. Seek it out through the various BBS's that he may have access to.
2. Send a message to David G4EBT requesting a copy. Or,
3. Provide me with his (Andy's) e-mail address so that I can conveniently
provide him with a copy.
In looking for the relevant bulletin he should look for one from G4EBT
that was lodged on the Packet Radio Network on 13 January, 2004 addressed
to INFO @ WW and carrying the title as shown above.
Regards,
Ian
